BBC Britis an entertainmentsubscription televisionchannel featuring factual entertainment programming. The channel is wholly owned and operated byBBC Studios.Originally set to roll out internationally in 2014,[1]it was later announced it would launch in 2015,[2]starting in Poland.[3]

History
editIn October 2013, the BBC announced that in 2014, they would roll out three new brands –BBC Earth,BBC First,and BBC Brit, with BBC Brit to be dedicated to entertainment programming.[1]It was later announced that the content would largely be factual entertainment, featuring the BBC seriesTop Gearwith the possibility for increases in local adaptions of the series. Other series are to includeRoom 101andMock the Week.[4][5] It was also announced that roughly 50 hours, or roughly 5 series, of new content would be ordered for the new channel.[6]

editBBC Brit premiered in Poland on 1 February 2015, replacingBBC Entertainment.[3]
Nordic countries
editBBC Brit replaced BBC Entertainment inDenmark,Norway,Sweden,FinlandandIcelandon 13 April 2015.[7][8]It was replaced byBBC Nordicon 17 April 2023.[9]
Africa
editThe channel launched onDStvinAfricareplacing BBC Entertainment on 1 September 2015.[10]
Australia
editBBC Brit andBBC Earthlaunched in Australia on 1 November 2019, through IPTV streaming serviceFetch TV.[11]Unlike other versions of the channel, this one is avideo on demandservice with selected programming accessible through the TV guide.
Singapore
editThe channel's content is offered exclusively onBBC PlayerSingapore (a local version of theBBC iPlayerservice).[12]
Malaysia
editThe channel's content is offered exclusively onBBC PlayerMalaysia (a local version of theBBC iPlayerservice), which requires a valid unifi TV subscription to access it.[13]In October 2021, BBC Brit contents have been available as SVOD contents on subscription TV provider Astro.[14]
