Bras Basah(Chinese:Trăm thắng,Tamil:பிராஸ்) is a district located in theMuseum Planning Areaof theCentral AreaofSingapore.[1]Bras Basah (Modern Spelling:Beras Basah) means "wet rice" inMalay[2][3][4]berasmeans harvested rice withhuskremoved,[5]andbasahmeans wet.[6]The precinct houses several landmarks includingFairmont Singapore,Raffles Hotel,theSingapore Art Museum,[2]theCathedral of the Good Shepherd[4]and theSingapore Management University.[3]AMass Rapid Transit(MRT) station,Bras Basah MRT station,is on theCircle line.
