Chris Polianis anAmerican footballexecutive who is an advisor for theCleveland Brownsof theNational Football League(NFL). He previously served over ten years as ascoutand executive with theIndianapolis Colts,including as theirgeneral manager,and has also worked for theCarolina Panthers,Atlanta Falcons,Jacksonville Jaguars,andWashington Football Team / Commanders.He is the son of former NFL general manager andPro Football Hall of FamerBill Polianand brother of college coachBrian Polian.

editPolian was born inNew York Cityand grew up there along withKansas City,WinnipegandChicagobefore settling inBuffalo, New Yorkafter his fatherBill Polianwas hired as thegeneral managerof theBuffalo Billsin the mid 1980s.[1]He later attendedJohn Carroll Universityand played fortheir football teambefore graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications in 1993.[1][2]
Polian's professional career began as a personnel assistant for theSacramento Gold Minersin 1993.[3]The following year he followed his father and joined theCarolina Panthers,anexpansion team,as an assistant andscout.[1][2]After his father left the Panthers for theIndianapolis Coltsin 1998, he followed him and became their director of pro scouting.[2]After serving several other executive roles with the team, such as assistant director and vice president of football operations,[1]he was promoted to general manager in 2009.[3]Following a 2–14 season in 2011, both he and his father were dismissed from the team.[4]He was a part of the2006 Coltsteam that wonSuper Bowl XLI.
He then worked for theAtlanta Falconsin 2012, scouting players from thePac-12 Conference,[1]prior to joining theJacksonville Jaguarsas their director of pro personnel in 2013.[5][6]He served that role until being dismissed following the 2019 season.[7]He spent the 2020 season out of football and before joining theWashington Football Teamas their director of pro personnel in 2021.[8]In 2024, Polian was hired by theCleveland Brownsas an advisor to general managerAndrew Berry.[9]
Personal life
editPolian is the son ofPro Football Hall of Famegeneral managerBill Polianand has two brothers,Brianand Dennis.[1]He is married with three children.[2]
