Cliftonis a village in the English county ofLancashireand in the district ofFylde.The village is part of thecivil parishofNewton-with-Clifton.It is situated on theA583 road,approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) west of itspost town,Preston,and 11 miles (18 km) east ofBlackpool.

The village is also home to the church ofSt John the Evangelist,also known as Lund parish church,^[1]which is situated on Church Lane, and theGrade II listedClifton Hall.^[2]

Amenities

The village once had aPost Officeand still has convenience store and a number of small businesses, including a garage.^[3]Near the village is a branch ofDobbies Garden Centre^[4]and a caravan and motor-home sales centre.^[5]

In December 2014 radio station CliftonFM made its inaugural broadcast. Highlights included Stereo Mathematics, Church Hall v Cathedral and an organ sing along. The station no longer broadcasts.^[6]

Transport links

The nearest rail station isSalwick railway station,but this has only a limited service. A more comprehensive service is available fromKirkham and Wesham railway stationprovided byNorthern.^[7]
