In July 2024, Muir and his wife were arrested on criminal charges related to abuse of their son.[1]
Early life
editMuir attendedFairmont Heights High Schooland later transferred toParkdale High SchoolinRiverdale, Marylandwhere he was a four-yearletterman.He played both defensive tackle andoffensive guard.He earned All-State honors after finishing hisseniorseason with 96tackles,including 13.5 sacks. He recorded 179 tackles, including 28.5sacks,his final two seasons. He alsoletteredinwrestling,where he finished second in state as ajuniorand third as a senior.
College career
editMuir attended Kent State where he started 45 of his 46 career games there. He also left Kent State ranked third in school history in career sacks (14.5) and seventh in tackles-for-losses (35). He finished his career with 198 tackles, he also had three forcedfumbles,two fumble recoveries, and one interception. He began his college career at defensive tackle before moving todefensive end,where he earned First-team All-MAC honors as a senior.
Muir did not play in2002due to theNCAA's initial eligibility guidelines. In2003as a freshman, he started the first 11 games before turning over his starting position to a senior in the season finale. He finished the season with 46 tackles, 7.5 for losses, 1.5 sacks and one blockedfield goal.In2004as a sophomore, he started 11 games recording 48 tackles, eight for losses, and 4.5 sacks. In2005as a junior, he started 11 games and earned Second-team All-MAC honors, he recorded 52 tackles, 8.5 for losses, and three sacks. In2006as a senior, he started 12 games and recorded 52 tackles, 11 for losses, and 5.5 sacks. He returned his only career interception for five yards.

Green Bay Packers (first stint)
editAfter going undrafted in the2007 NFL draft,Muir signed with theGreen Bay Packerson May 4, 2007.[3]In2007,he played in three games, after becoming the only undrafted rookie to make the roster out oftraining camp.He recorded eight tackles, four solo for the season. He played for the Packers inDallas,Chicago,and againstDetroit.Before the start of the2008 season,he was waived by the Packers.
Indianapolis Colts (first stint)
editAfter being waived by the Packers before the start of the 2008 season, he was claimed by theIndianapolis Colts.He was re-signed to a one-year $1.7 million contract on April 13, 2010.[4]
St. Louis Rams
editMuir joined theSt. Louis Ramson July 31, 2011, by signing a one-year $1.85 million contract. He was cut on September 3, 2011.[5]
Indianapolis Colts (second stint)
editOn October 10, 2011, Muir re-signed with the Colts. He was waived on November 8, 2011.[6]
Green Bay Packers (second stint)
editMuir signed with the Packers on March 23, 2012.[7]He was released on August 31, 2012.[8]
New York Jets
editMuir was signed by theNew York Jetson October 10, 2012.[9]He was waived on October 30, 2012.[10]
Kansas City Chiefs
editMuir signed a reserve/future contract with theKansas City Chiefson January 18, 2013. He was released on June 14, 2013.[5]
Houston Texans
editOn July 25, 2013, Muir signed with theHouston Texans.He was released by the Texans on August 31, 2013 due to an injury settlement.[5]
Oakland Raiders
editOn October 9, 2013, Muir signed with theOakland Raiders.
Personal life
editMuir is one of many siblings and was raised by his Jamaican native parents inLanham, Maryland.He married his college sweetheart Kristin Wright on April 25, 2009. Muir currently resides in Logansport, Indiana with his family.
Muir hosted a Christmas dinner for homeless teens with the help of Outreach Inc.[11]
Muir is currently the pastor of the Indiana chapter ofStraitway Truth MinistryinLogansport,Indiana,[12]where he lives on a 5.6-acre property owned by the ministry.[13]Muir was invited to join the Tennessee-basedBlack Hebrew Israelitegroup that preachesBiblical literalism[14]by former Packers teammateKabeer Gbaja-Biamila.[15]
2024 arrest
editMuir was named a person of interest by Indiana State Police in the disappearance of his 14-year-old son Bryson on June 27, 2024. Bryson, who went missing on June 16, 2024, was found on July 3 safe during anIndiana State Policeraid on the Muirs' Logansport property and placed in child services. On July 3, 2024, Muir was arrested for obstruction of justice and domestic battery, and his wife was arrested for obstruction of justice.[16][17][18]The couple were denied bond as they were deemedflight risks,[19]and their trial was scheduled for November 4, 2024.[20][needs update]
