Dmytro Yakimischak(October 7, 1888[1]—1958[2]) was a politician inManitoba,Canada. He served in theLegislative Assembly of Manitobafrom 1920 to 1927.[3]

Yakimischak was born inUkraine,to a family of prosperous farmers. He was educated at public schools in Ukraine, and came in Canada in 1898. Yakimischak continued his education at theUniversity of Manitoba,receivingBachelor of Artsand law degrees. He served as director of the Ukrainian Publishing Company, Limited.[1]

He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the1920 provincial electionas aFarmercandidate,[3]defeatingConservativeRoy Whitman and incumbentLiberalJohn D. Baskervillein the southeastern constituency ofEmerson.He served in the Independent-Farmer bloc in the parliament which followed.

Yakimiscak was re-elected as an independent in the1922 provincial election,[3]winning by an increased majority. He was defeated in the1927 campaign,[3]however, finishing a distant fourth againstLiberal-ProgressivecandidateRobert Curran.
