TheDong Neng-3(Chinese:Động năng -3;lit.'Kinetic Energy-3'; DN-3/KO09) is a Chineseballistic missile defensesystem.
Design
editThe system is generally believed to be based on theDF-21with elements of theSC-19also incorporated.[1]
The interceptor ishit-to-kill.[1]It can also be used as an anti-satellite weapon.[2]
The Dong Neng-3 is believed to fill much the same role as theSM-3however it is believed to be much larger.[2]
History
editTesting of the DN-3 has primarily occurred at theKorla Missile Test Complex.[3]
A 2010 midcourse defense test was most likely a test of the DF-3.[1]
In 2015 the DN-3’s anti-satellite capabilities are believed to have been tested.[4]
In February 2018 the DN-3 was tested against a DF-21 based target in space.[5]This test was reported to be a success by thePLA Daily.[2]
