TheElymaic Alpha betis a right-to-left, non-joiningabjad.[1] It is derived from theAramaic Alpha bet.[2] Elymaic was used in the ancient state ofElymais,[1]which was asemi-independent stateof the 2nd century BCE to the early 3rd century CE, frequently a vassal underParthiancontrol, in the present-day region ofKhuzestan,Iran(Susiana).[3]
