Erica Messeris an Americantelevision writer,producer, and story editor. Since 2011, she has been the showrunner ofCriminal Mindsafter being one of the main screenwriters since the show's premiere in 2005. She has written episodes of television series such asAlias,The O.C.,Charmed,andCriminal Minds.She has also co-produced two television shows:CharmedandCriminal Minds,as well as acting as a story editor onAliasand executive story editor onThe O.C.
Career
editMesser began her career with thetelevision seriesAliasin 2001 as ascreenwriter.In 2002, she was promoted tostory editoronAlias.Messer, then in 2003–04, wrote several episodes forThe O.C.and serving asexecutive story editor.She wrote one episode forCharmedin 2004. From 2004 to 2005, Messer was the co-producerofCharmed.From 2005 to the present, she has been with the television seriesCriminal Mindsas ascreenwriter,producer,supervising producer,andexecutive producer.In 2010, Messer was named co-showrunner.[1]In 2011, she was named sole showrunner.[1]In 2013, Messer re-signed her contract withCriminal Minds.[1]In 2014,CBSwas looking for aspin-off.[2][3]In 2015, Messer wrote thebackdoor pilotepisode "Beyond Borders"in the tenth season ofCriminal Mindsfor which the spin-offCriminal Minds: Beyond Borderswas created.[4]Messer has also co-written multiple episodes ofCriminal Mindswith starKirsten Vangsness.
