Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade

TheFree Sunnis of Baalbek Brigade,also known as theAhrar al-Sunna Baalbek Brigade,was aSunnijihadistgroup active inLebanon.It first rose to prominence in November 2013 when it retaliated against theShiaIslamistgroupHezbollah,after clashes between locals Sunnis inBaalbekand members of Hezbollah.[1]The group is known for attacking the Iranian embassy inBeirutin 2013 and attackingChristianchurches.[2]On 30 June 2014, the group pledged its allegiance to theIslamic State of Iraq and the Levant(ISIL).[3][4][5]
