Mogeri Gopalakrishna Adiga(18.2.1918–14.11.1992) was a modernKannada poet.He is known by some commentators as the "pioneer ofNew style"poetry.[1]

Biography
editHe was born in the coastal village of Mogeri,Udupidistrict, inKarnatakaState. After primary education in Mogeri and Baindooru, he went to high school in Kundapur.[2]As editor ofSaakshimagazine he helped bringKannada literatureto the masses.[3]
Adiga's grandson isManu Raju,Senior Political reporter forCNN.[4]Another grandson,Sharat Raju,is a film director in the US.
Work
editIn the 1950s and 1960s Adiga was a teacher inMysore.[5]From 1964 until 1968 he was the principal of Lal Bahadur College inSagara,and from 1968 until 1971 he was Principal of Poorna Prajna College inUdupi.[6]
His style has been described[by whom?]as a response to theindependence of IndiafromBritish rulein 1947. The style calledNavyawas generally about the new times. Inspired by modernWestern literatureand Indian tradition, he set out to portray the "disillusionment and angst of the times".[6]
