History
editHalla Group was founded asHyundai International, Inc.in 1962.[2]The Halla name was first used in 1978 as the name of a cement company.[3]The name Halla is taken fromMount Halla,a mountain onJeju Island.
Halla collapsed in 1997 during the1997 Asian Financial Crisis.[4]
In 2008 Halla repurchased Mando, a car company they sold during the financial crisis.[3]The chaebol also sponsors multiple hockey teams, mainlyAnyang Hallain theAsia League Ice HockeyandKiekko-Vantaain the FinnishMestis.
