She is regarded as a role model by the Junior Detective League, and the children frequently seek her advice. She is adept at household chores such as sewing, knitting, and cooking, and has a knack for chance games, rarely losing in games such as mahjong. Reception
editThe name changes done byFunimation EntertainmentandViz Mediawere highly criticized. Carlo Santos ofAnime News Networkcriticized how they attempted toAmericanizethe main characters' names yet the secondary characters were able to keep their Japanese names.[62]Eduardo M. Chavez of Mania and Jeffrey Harris ofIGNagreed that the name changes were pointless.[63][64]
Due to the popularity of the series, the characters from the series were used in a pamphlet to introduce the34th G8 summitand were used to promote general crime fighting.[65][66]The characters were also featured oncommemorative stamps.[67]Statues ofJimmy Kudo,Conan Edogawa, andRachel Mooreare found atHokuei, Tottori.[68][69][70]Several figurines were produced based on the likeness of the characters in theCase Closedseries.[71]Many characters were also featured on trading cards from theCase Closedcollectible card game.[72]
Notes
edit- ^Before Rum's identity was revealed in the manga, Rum was only given a computerized altered voice, and the credits of episode 942 andThe Darkest Nightmaredid not list a voice actor. This was done intentionally so that no one could look up what other characters that voice actor or actress might play in the anime series and easily figure out Rum's identity.
- ^Orikasa substituted for Ōtani while she was on maternity leave from voice acting in 2006.
