TheIcelandic Lowis a semi-permanent centre of lowatmospheric pressurefound betweenIcelandand southernGreenlandand extending in theNorthern Hemispherewinter into theBarents Sea.In the summer, it weakens and splits into two centres, one nearDavis Strait,Labrador,and the other west of Iceland. It is a principal centre of action in the atmosphere circulation of the Northern Hemisphere, associated with frequentcycloneactivity. It forms one pole of theNorth Atlantic oscillation,the other being theAzores High.
