ProfessorJohn Joseph ScarisbrickMBEFRHistS(often shortened toJ.J. Scarisbrick) is a British historian who taught at theUniversity of Warwick.He is also noted as the co-founder with his wifeNuala Scarisbrickof Life, a Britishpro-lifecharity founded in 1970.[1]

Born in 1928 in London, Scarisbrick was educated atThe John Fisher Schooland laterChrist's College, Cambridge,after spending two years in theRoyal Air Force.[1]He specialises inTudorhistory and his most critically acclaimed work isHenry VIII,first published in 1968.[2][3]

He received anMBEin 2015 for services to vulnerable people as founder ofZoe's Place,a hospice for children inCoventry.[4]
