Jelani Alladin(born August 6, 1992) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. In his Broadway debut, he originated the role ofKristoffin theFrozenmusical in 2018. Alladin starred as Marcus Gaines in the 2023Peabody Award-winning miniseriesFellow Travelers.[1]

Early life

Alladin grew up in theBrownsvilleneighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City.[2]He attended high school inNew Canaan,Connecticut, where he was an athlete and a performer, playing lacrosse and participating in track as well as performing lead roles such as the Emcee inCabaretand The Cat in the Hat inSeussical.[2]

He then attended theNew York University'sTisch School of the Arts,where he studied a variety of acting styles including cinema acting, song and dance acting, and vocal performance.[3]

Career

Alladin starred in theOff-BroadwayshowSweeteeas Cat Jones and received the San Francisco Critics Circle Award for Best Leading Actor as Pharus inChoir Boy.[4]Other regional credits includeI and You(TheatreSquared),The History Boys(Palmbeach Dramaworks),Violet(Clarence Brown Theatre), and the world premiere ofJosephine(Asolo Rep).[4]Alladin has also appeared Off-Broadway atYork Theatrein the New York City premiere ofLord Tomand a revival ofDon't Bother Me I Can't Cope.[4]

In Alladin'sBroadwaydebut, he played the role of Kristoff in the 2018 musicalFrozen.[5]He leftFrozenafter a year to play the role ofHerculesin the musicalHercules.[6]

Starting in 2014, Alladin's career spanned across Theatre and Film/Television. His on-screen debut was as Deke in High Noon on the West Side. His most recent appearance on-camera was as Marcus Gaines in thePeabody Award-winning miniseriesFellow Travelers.[7]The series won the award for "Chronicling LGBTQ+ History Over 50 Years."
