Habitat of Dolphin
editThe Kulsi river is the habitat of endangeredSouth Asian river dolphin(Platanista gangetica). This endangered dolphin (known asXihuinAssamese language) breeds only in theSubansiriand Kulsi rivers across the entireBrahmaputra delta.[1]However, sand mining and other development activities make dolphins in the Kulsi vulnerable and the numbers of this endangered dolphin have sharply declined.[2]
