Lower Langfordis a village within thecivil parishesofChurchillandBurringtonin theunitary authorityofNorth Somerset,England. It is located on the western edge of theMendip Hillsabout 8 miles (13 kilometres) east ofWeston-super-Mare.It was a village built around theestateofSidney Hillwho was the original inhabitant of the village. The estate is now the Bristol Veterinary School of theUniversity of Bristol.

editChurchill C.E.V.C. Primary School is theprimary schoolserving bothChurchilland Langford. It has around 200 pupils ages 4 to 11. The school was newly built in 2002 after relocating from its former location at Ladymead Lane.Churchill Community Foundation School and Sixth Form Centreis the state-runsecondary schooland specialistArts Collegeserving the villages of North Somerset. It has around 1,540 students between the ages of 11 and 18 and is located in the adjacent village of Churchill.
Amenities
editThe village has one pub, The Langford Inn. The village also has a football club,Budgens,hairdresserand had a post office until it closed in May 2010. The village is also served by nearby pubs the Stag and Hounds and the Churchill Inn, Churchill Memorial Hall, and served by the Mendip Vale Medical Practice. Also in the parish are a fish and chip shop, the Winston Manor Hotel and a bed and breakfast, all of which are close to the Churchill-Langford border.
Churches
editThe village is home to two churches, St Mary's and LangfordEvangelicalChurch. Both churches are fairly small in size. St Mary's is used by the variousChristianoriented children's clubs.
St Mary's was built in 1900 on land donated by SirLintorn Simmons,G.C.B., G.C.M.G, R.E.[2]
Landmarks
editLangford Court was built in 1651 and renovated in the early 19th century and again in 1875. It has been designated as a Grade IIlisted building.[3]The village is the home of the formerMeat Research Institute(now Langford Vets) and theLangford House School of Veterinary Science.
