- Gnumeric— forLinux.Started as theGNOMEdesktop spreadsheet. Reasonably lightweight but has very advanced features.
- KSpread— following the fork of theCalligra SuitefromKOfficein mid-2010, superseded byKCellsinKOfficeandSheetsin the Calligra Suite.[4]
- LibreOfficeCalc— developed for MS Windows, Linux,BSDand AppleMacintosh(Mac) operating systems byThe Document Foundation.The Document Foundation was formed in mid-2010 by several large organisations such asGoogle,Red Hat,Canonical(Ubuntu) andNovellalong with the OpenOffice.org community (developed bySun) and various OpenOffice.org forks, notablyGo-oo.Go-oo had been the "OpenOffice" used in Ubuntu and elsewhere. Started asStarOfficein the late 1990s, it became OpenOffice underSunand then LibreOffice in mid-2010. The Document Foundation works with external organisations such as theApache Foundationto help drive all three products forward.[5]
- Siag— for Linux,OpenBSDand Apple Mac OS X. A simple old spreadsheet, part of Siag Office.[6]
- Sheets— for MS Windows, Linux,FreeBSD,Apple Mac OS X andHaiku.Part of the extensive Calligra Suite. Possibly still mainly for Linux, but ports have been developed for otheroperating systems.[7]

- WordPerfect OfficeQuattro Pro– for MS Windows. Was one of the big three spreadsheets (the others being Lotus 123 and Excel).
- EasyOfficeEasySpreadsheet – for MS Windows. No longer freeware, this suite aims to be more user friendly than competitors.
- Framework– for MS Windows. Historical office suite still available and supported. It includes a spreadsheet.
- Google Sheets– as part ofGoogle Workspacesuite, supporting both offline and online editing.
- IBM Lotus Symphony– freeware for MS Windows, Apple Mac OS X and Linux.
- Kingsoft OfficeSpreadsheets 2012 – For MS Windows. Both free and paid versions are available. It can handle Microsoft Excel.xls and.xlsx files, and also produce other file formats such as.et,.txt,.csv,.pdf, and.dbf. It supports multiple tabs, VBA macro and PDF converting.[10]
- Lotus SmartSuiteLotus 123– for MS Windows. In its MS-DOS (character cell) version, widely considered to be responsible for the explosion of popularity of spreadsheets during the 80s and early 90s.[citation needed]
- Microsoft OfficeExcel– for MS Windows and Apple Macintosh. The proprietary spreadsheet leader.
- Microsoft WorksSpreadsheet – for MS Windows (previously MS-DOS and Apple Macintosh). Only allows one sheet at a time.
- PlanMaker– for MS Windows, Linux, MS Windows Mobile and CE; part ofSoftMaker Office
- Quattro Pro– Originally introduced as a stand-alone DOS and Microsoft Windows application, it eventually became part ofWordPerfect Officein 1994.
- StarOfficeCalc – Cross-platform. StarOffice was originally developed by the German company Star Division which was purchased bySunin 1998. The code was made open source and becameOpenOffice.org.Sun continues developing the commercial version which periodically integrates the open source code with their own and third party code to make new low price versions.
