Hines driving forVauxhallatDonington Parkduring the2004 British Touring Car Championshipseason.

After a small amount ofopen wheelracing inFormula Ford,Hines tested a Production Class Alfa Romeo 156 for Gary Ayles' team following the conclusion of the 2002 British Touring Car Championship. He entered the Production Class of theBTCCin2003,with theBarwell Motorsportteam. He was the class champion in a field of five full-time drivers. He did enough to be noticed byVauxhall,who signed him for a2004assault on the Touring Class, when he won 2 races and finished 10th overall. In2005he switched to theSEATteam, moving up a place to 9th with 1 race win. He returned to the BTCC for the final two meetings of 2014 in place of Glynn Geddie at United Autosports.

For 2006 he moved to theBritish GT Championshipdriving a Panoz Esperante for the LNT team. He immediately established himself as one of the front runners along with his team mateTom Kimber-Smithand led the championship after a pair of wins atMondello Park.Hines and Kimber-Smith ended the year second in the standings, missing out on the title by just two points. Hines returned to British GT in2008,partneringJeremy Metcalfein aFerrari F430GT3 and finishing runner-up a second time. He raced partial seasons in2012,2013and for a final year in2014,in which he earned a podium atRockingham Motor Speedway.

Hines has established kart racing team AllStars Racing, announcing in April 2018 that he would be working with 10-year-old Deaf racerCaleb McDuff[2]in preparation for McDuff's campaign in the 2018Super 1 National Kart Championships.
