Mitra C. Emadis an American anthropologist and Distinguished University Teaching Professor at theUniversity of Minnesota Duluth.She is known for her works on cultural constructions of the human body. Emad is a recipient of the Horace T. Morse-University of Minnesota Alumni Association Award.[1][2] She is also an established somatic andyoga educator.[3]

editEmad received her BA fromDePaul Universityin 1987 and her MA from theUniversity of Chicagoin 1989. She wrote her doctoral dissertation onacupunctureamong Americans under the supervision ofEugenia GeorgesatRice Universityin 1998. During her career at theUniversity of Minnesota Duluth,she developed a Participatory Media Lab withDavid Syring(Professor of Anthropology at UMD).[4]
