History
editMoneyWeek,founded by Jolyon Connell, was launched in November 2000 and originally published in association withDennis Publishing.[2]It was designed as a financial version ofThe Weekmagazine, which was founded byJolyon Connellfive years previously.[3]
MoneyWeekwas sold by Dennis Publishing toFinancial NewsLtd. in August 2002.[4]In late 2003, it was bought by U.S. financial publisher,Agora Inc.[5]headed byBill Bonner,who contributed a weekly column in the magazine.
ASouth Africanedition ofMoneyWeekwas launched in June 2007, initially on asubscriptionbasis, withnewsstandavailability beginning in 2008.[6]In September 2008,MoneyWeek France, aFrench language edition ofMoneyWeek,published inParis,was launched.[7]It ceased publishing in October 2011.[8]
MoneyWeeksupported Leave in the UK's 2016 EU Referendum.[citation needed]
In 2017,MoneyWeekwas re-acquired by Dennis Publishing,[9]joining Dennis’ Current Affairs division.[10][11]In 2020,MoneyWeekbecame part ofFuture Plcwhen it purchased Dennis Publishing.[12]
