Nagashima(Trường đảo đinh,Nagashima-chō)was atownlocated inKuwana District,Mie Prefecture,Japan.
As of 2003, the town had an estimatedpopulationof 15,667 and adensityof 493.76 persons per km2.The total area was 31.73 km2.
On December 6, 2004, Nagashima, along with the town ofTado(also fromKuwana District), was merged into the expanded city ofKuwanaand thus no longer exists as an independentmunicipality.[1]
History
editTheSieges of Nagashimatook place in 1571, 1573 and 1574, finally resulting in the destruction of theIkkō-ikkidefenders by warlordOda Nobunaga.
Nagashima was heavily damaged by theIsewan Typhoonin 1959.
