Rajiv Chandrasekaranis an American journalist. He is a senior correspondent and associate editor atThe Washington Post,where he has worked since 1994.[1]

Life
editHe grew up mostly in theSan Francisco Bay Area.He attendedStanford University,where he became editor-in-chief ofThe Stanford Dailyand earned a degree in political science.[2]
AtThe Posthe has served as bureau chief inBaghdad,Cairo,andSoutheast Asia,and as a correspondent covering the war inAfghanistan.During 2003, thePostput his stories on the front page 138 times.[3] In 2004, he was journalist-in-residence at theJohns Hopkins UniversitySchool of Advanced International Studies,[4]and a public policy scholar at theWoodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
Chandrasekaran's 2006 bookImperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zonewon the 2007Samuel Johnson Prize[5]and was a finalist for the 2006National Book Awardsfor non-fiction.[6]The filmGreen Zone(2010) is "credited as having been 'inspired by'" the book.[7]
