Renkum(Dutch pronunciation:[ˈrɛŋkʏm] ) is amunicipalityand a town in the easternNetherlands. The municipality had a population of 31,417 in 2021 and has a land area of 45.95 km2(17.74 sq mi). Renkum is situated along the riverRhine.The municipality Renkum is part of theStadsregio(English: City region) Arnhem-Nijmegen.

The surrounding of the municipality are mainly forest and river forelands. In the forest one can findtumulusof thousand years old. Findings from these tumulus can be seen in the Historic museum inArnhem.[6]
History
editRenkum is more than a thousand years old. The thousand-year anniversary was celebrated in 1970. In the early days, the name was written asRedinchem.In the 19th century Renkum developed itself. There existed sixpaper mills,threewater-cornmillsand onewater-oil mill.There were two factories, atreacle factoryand apotato starch-flour factory.There was also abeer breweryand atavernde Bok.
Nowadays there is stillpaper industryThe company isParenco B.V.,acquired by H2 Equity Partners in 2012.
