Early life
editAthird-generation Japanese American,Hamada was born inSan Francisco, Californiain 1937. He and his family were sent to theAmache internment campduring World War II due toExecutive Order 9066.[1]Following their release, the Hamada family moved to New York.[2]
Hamada received hisB.A.inchemical engineeringfromYale Universityand hisS.M.industrial management, andPh.D.Finance, in 1959, 1961, and 1969 respectively from theMIT Sloan School of Management.[3]
