Rodolfo C. Vera(born December 5, 1960[1]), commonly known asRody Vera,is a Filipinoplaywright,theater actor, anddirector.

Vera was affiliated with thePhilippine Educational Theater Association(PETA) as a theater actor and artistic director.[2]

As aplaywright,Vera wrote more than 25 original plays, 10 of which have wonPalanca Awards.He has also adopted and translated 20 foreign-language plays into Filipino such asBertolt Brecht'sMother Courage and Her Children,William Shakespeare'sMacbeth,Jean Genet'sThe Maids,andAnton Chekhov'sThree SistersandThe Cherry Orchard[3]He is also a Palanca Awards Hall of Fame inductee.[4]

He also wrote lyrics of various liturgical protest songs.[4]

He was awarded the Gawad Tanglaw ng Lahi in 2015 by theAteneo de Manila University.[3]In 2019, he was conferred the Dangal ni Balagtas award by theCommission on the Filipino Languagefor his contribution to Philippine literature.[4]
