Roger was thelardererfor KingHenry Iof England before he was appointed to thesee of Herefordin September 1102.[1]He was invested with thebishopricon 29 September 1102,[2]by KingHenry I of England.[1]He then attended theCouncil of Londonheld just days later. He became ill, and askedAnselm,theArchbishop of Canterburyto consecrate him before his death, but Anselm refused as the archbishop had already compromised with the king over theInvestiture Crisisby allowing the king to invest Roger.[1]He died at the council within a week of his investiture.[2]
