Dussumieriidaeis a family ofclupeiformfishes popularly called the "round herrings". It is now recognized byFishBaseas a family in its own right; it had been considered to be a subfamily ofClupeidae.[2]It contains twoextantgenera, and some potential fossil genera. Possibly the earliest record of the group isNardoclupeafrom theCampanianof Italy.[3]
