Sanjay Ramanis an Americanelectrical engineer.He is the dean of theCollege of Engineeringat theUniversity of Massachusetts Amherst.[1][2]He was previously a professor of electrical and computer engineering atVirginia Tech,where he was also associate vice president of Virginia Tech in the National Capital Region.[3]

From 2007-2013, Raman was a program manager in theMicrosystems Technology Officeof theDefense Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA). For his service in the DARPA, he was awarded theSecretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Servicein 2013.[1][2]
He was awarded thePresidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineersin 1999, for his research into the application ofmixed-signal integrated circuitstowireless communicationsand for his work onmicrowave engineering.[4]He was also named aFellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) in 2013[5]for his work on adaptivemicrowaveandmillimeter-waveintegrated circuits.
Raman earned hisB.S.in electrical engineering fromGeorgia Techin 1987. He subsequently served asnuclear-trained submarine officer in theU.S. Navyfrom 1987 to 1992. He earned hisPh.Din electrical engineering from theUniversity of Michiganin 1998.[1][2]
