Saul Metzstein(born 30 December 1970) is aScottishfilm director.He won theBritish Academy Scotland New Talent Awardfor best director in 2002 forLate Night Shopping.[1]
Metzstein is the son ofIsi Metzstein,the renownedmodernistarchitect, and Danielle Kahn. He was raised in Glasgow and studiedarchitectureatRobinson College, Cambridgebefore taking minor production roles onDanny Boyle'sShallow GraveandTrainspottingandGillies MacKinnon'sSmall Faces.[2]He came to prominence with the2001featureLate Night Shopping.[3]He subsequently directed documentaries onJames StewartandGillespie, Kidd & Coiaand an episode ofUpstairs Downstairs,as well as five episodes of theseventh seriesofDoctor Who.[2]
