Scott Michael Fosteris an American actor. He is best known for his roles as Captain John Paul "Cappie" Jones in theABC Familycomedy-drama seriesGreek(2007–11), Leo Hendrie in the ABC Family dramaChasing Life(2014–15) and as Nathaniel Plimpton III inCrazy Ex-Girlfriend(2017–19). Foster has also had recurring roles onCalifornication(2012),Halt and Catch Fire(2014),Once Upon a Time(2014), andYou(2021).

Early life
editFoster was born inWinfield, Illinois,atCentral DuPage Hospital.He has two sisters. He later moved toHighland Village, Texas,a suburb ofDallas,where he became interested in acting as early as elementary school.[1]He went to Briarhill Middle School, and later attendedEdward S. Marcus High Schoolwhere he was involved in theater until he graduated in 2003. He attendedCollin Collegefor one semester with a focus on acting, but soon left his studies to pursue a professional career in that field.[1]He plays guitar and is the lead singer of his indie rock band "Siren's Eye". They released their first EP on iTunes, entitled "Red Room" on 15 December 2009.[2]

editFoster appeared in the small indie filmThe Horrible Flowers,before landing the regular role in theABC Familycomedy-drama series,Greek.The series ran from 2007 to 2011. During his days onGreek,Foster also had the leading role in the independent film,Teenage Dirtbag.[3]He later guest-starred onLaw & Order: LA,Melissa & Joey,Friends with Benefits,The Closer,andParenthood.[4]
In 2012, Foster had recurring roles in the fifth season ofShowtimecomedy-drama series,Californication,and short-livedABCparanormal horror series,The River.[5][6]In 2013, he had the regular role in another short-lived ABC series,Zero HouroppositeAnthony EdwardsandCarmen Ejogo.In 2014, Foster had recurring roles inAMCperiod drama,Halt and Catch Fire,and later in that year began appearing in the ABC Family drama series,Chasing Lifeas a love interest for the lead character.[7][8][9]Also in 2014, he played the role ofKristoffin the fourth season of ABC fantasy series,Once Upon a Time.[10]
In 2015, Foster began starring in the ABC prime time television soap opera,Blood & OilalongsideDon JohnsonandAmber Valletta.[11][12]In 2015, he was listed one ofVariety’s "10 Actors to Watch".[13][8]
In 2017, Foster began appearing as Nathaniel Plimpton III on the CW comedy-musical seriesCrazy Ex-Girlfriend.[14]
In January 2021, it was announced that Foster had been cast in the recurring role of Ryan Goodwin on the third season of theNetflixthriller seriesYou.[15]
In 2023, he played the main character's boyfriend Paul in the Netflix interactive romcom filmChoose Love.[16]
Personal life
editFrom 2008 to 2013, Foster was in a relationship with actressLaura Prepon.[17]
Since 2019, Foster has been dating actress Carson Fagerbakke, daughter of actorBill Fagerbakke.[18][19]
