Shlohmo is associated with the Los Angeles beat music scene of the mid-2000s, alongside other producers such asFlying Lotus,Nosaj Thing,Knxwledge,Tokimonsta,andTeebs.[3]Shlohmo has released three studio albums—Bad Vibes(2011),Dark Red(2015), andThe End(2019), alongside various EPs and collaborative projects.

Early life

Laufer attendedCrossroads School,a private high school inSanta Monica,California, where he met Nick Meledandri, the co-founder of the Wedidit music collective.[4]Laufer briefly enrolled at theCalifornia College of the Artsto study drawing and painting. He left college following the release of hisShlomoshun EPin 2010, which led to an album deal with the Los Angeles-based label Friends of Friends.[5]

Career

Shlohmo released his debut EPShlo-Fiin 2009. In 2011, his releaseBad Vibesgained critical recognition from platforms likePitchforkandResident Advisor.He later released several EPs, includingVacation(2012) andLaid Out(2013). Shlohmo gained attention for remixes of tracks likeDrakeandThe Weeknd'sCrew LoveandBanks' Brain.[6][7]

In 2014, Shlohmo collaborated withJeremihon the joint EPNo Moreand in 2015, he released his second studio albumDark Red.[8]During this time period, Shlohmo produced music forTory Lanez,Corbin,andYung Lean.[9]In 2017, he executive-produced Corbin's debut LP,Mourn.

In 2018, he worked on and contributed toJoji's debut albumBallads 1.[10]His third LP,The End,was released in March 2019 through the Friends of Friends label.[11]

In 2021, Shlohmo worked on Drake's sixth studio album,Certified Lover Boy.[12]
