Solson Publicationswas a New York-basedblack-and-whitecomic bookpublisheractive in the 1980s and revived for a short period in the late 1990s. The company was founded in 1985 by Gary Brodsky, the son of long-timeMarvel ComicsexecutiveSol Brodsky(who had died the year before);[1]the name of the company was derived from Brodsky's name: "Sol's son" = Solson.[2]

The company's first published title was 1985'sHow to Draw Comics Comic,by Allan J. Fromberg, with art samples byJohn ByrneandJohn Romita Jr..Many of Solson's titles were connected with, or spoofs of,EastmanandLaird'sTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.One of Solson's most notorious titles wasReagan's Raiders,which featured then-U.S. presidentRonald Reaganand members of his cabinet as costumed adventurers in the mold ofNick Furyand hisHowling Commandos.[3]The company also published a number of how-to books on various aspects of the comics industry, many featuring art byRich Buckler.Solson was active in the years 1986–1987 and then went dormant.

In 1997, the company re-emerged with a series of how-to books by Gary Brodsky and Albert Occhino, many related toerotic art.The company went defunct again after 1999.
