Sunny Singh Nijjar(born 6 October 1985)[1]is an Indian actor who works primarily inHindifilms. He began acting in 2007 with the television soap operaKasautii Zindagii Kay.He made his film debut inPaathshaala(2010) and has since starred inPyaar Ka Punchnama 2(2015),Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety(2018) andAdipurush(2023).[2][3]

Early life
editSingh was born tostunt directorJai Singh Nijjar, who has been a stunt director for numerous films such asChennai Express(2013) andShivaay(2016).[4]
Career
editSingh made his television debut in 2007 through theStar Plus-popular running seriesKasautii Zindagii Kay,where he played the love interest of the character played byKratika Sengar.Later, he played Karan in the 2009 seriesShakuntala.
Singh began his film career in 2010 withPaathshaalawhere he starred alongsideShahid Kapoor.In 2011 he worked inMadhur Bhandarkar's comedyDil Toh Baccha Hai Ji,where he made a small appearance in the concluding scene alongsideEmraan Hashmiand newcomerChetna Pande.His first major role was as an abusive husband, Ravi, alongsideKartik AaryanandNushrat BharuchainLuv Ranjan's romantic dramaAkaash Vani,which was a commercial failure.[5]
Singh reteamed with Aaryan, Ranjan and Bharucha forPyaar Ka Punchnama 2,a sequel to the 2011 filmPyaar Ka Punchnamaand co-starring Aaryan, Bharucha,Omkar Kapoor,Ishita Raj SharmaandSonnalli Seygall.With a worldwide total of₹88 crore(US$11 million), it emerged as his first commercial success.[6]His highest-grossing release came in 2018[7]when he teamed up with the trio for the third time inSonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.[8]
Singh had a cameo appearance inAkiv Ali's directorial debut,De De Pyaar De,a romantic comedy film produced by Ranjan, about a 50-year-old businessman who falls in love with a 26-year-old girl, and starring Ajay Devgn oppositeRakul Preet SinghandTabu.[9]He also starred inSmeep Kang's comedy filmJhootha Kahin Kaalongside Kapoor andJimmy Sheirgill.
Singh's first release as a lead actor wasPyaar Ka Punchnama 2producer Abhishek Pathak's directorial debutUjda Chaman,which was based on the concept of baldness. His performance was appreciated but the film only become a moderate success at the box-office.[10]
Singh's latest release wasJai Mummy Di,a romantic comedy starring Seygall,Supriya Pathak,andPoonam Dhillon.The film, written and directed by Navjot Gulati and produced again by Ranjan, was released on 17 January 2020[11]to poor response.
In February 2021, it was announced that he will playLakshmanainAdipurush,an upcoming film based onRamayana.[12]
He will also star inLuv Ki Arrange MarriageoppositeAvneet Kaur.[13]
