Regarding edits by Bernard Cochrane
editThe contribution by Bernard Cochrane is helpful but seems to violate NPOV as well as function as self-promotion. The website he refers to seems to be unofficial and unreliable. I'm storing his contribution here and reverting to a previous version.
"Starting in The United Kingdom in 1982, The Battle of the Bands became one, if not the biggest and most publicized competition events of its kind, achieving a massive amount of publicity and inclusion from press and media alike. In 1982 as organizer, I brought the event to BBC Television where it was broadcast for a couple of years on BBC 1 television. Such was the considerable amount of recognition and media it received, that even to this day you will often see the 'usage' of the familiarity in headlines such as e.g." The Battle of the Brides "......" The Battle of the Budgets "and so on, just keep an eye on those headlines or check out all old ones. After a couple of years with the event I left to bring The World Disco Dancing Championships to Channel 4 television and involvement in other projects. You can check out a little bit more by logging into thebattleofthebands.org where I have long since had the title registered on the internet. Alternatively just shove in my name into Google, Yahoo or any good search. Regards, Bernard Cochrane."
Picture of a megachurch
editWhat the hell... a megachurch you americans are crazy
- Uh, since when are battle of the bands hosted at churches? Aren't they hosted by MTV, Muchmusic, etc.? --Bash03:41, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
In Film
editHow about a battle of the bands in film section,l with a list of movies theyve been featured in,Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey,School of Rock,etc...--Atticus202005:28, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
how it works
editI've got a question for anyone who has ever been involved in a Battle. I'm going to be playing in one soon, but I don't really know how it works. Does a band usually only play one song, pick their best work kind of situation? Or have there been times when bands were allowed to play more than one song? Malis18:31, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Malis
Violence in a contest?
editLet's say you win at a contest. Is it likely that people will start fighting? My friend is in a band and he claims that it happens and plenty of nasty stuff happened to him (Like having hi's leg broken and being hit in the head with a bass guitar for winning)
More than one kind of battle
editCollege marching bands are known to battle as well. Maybe this should be included? The rules are simple: When it's your turn to play you have to play, you can't play a song that's already been played, and when you don't have anything to play (or choose not to play) you lose. See thePicnic Dayarticle as an example.JakiChan07:51, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Comment
editI deleted "( for example,“Battle Of The Bands”[1]). "because the example was there just for promotional purposes. Its not a particularly good example of anything. -Kevinebaugh(talk)22:40, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Title
editBy its own usage in the article, shouldn't the title be "Battle of the Bands" (or even "Battle of the bands" )?czar♔15:06, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
Introductory paragraph
editIt's fuckin horrible. Someone please change it.
Trademark section
editThe Canadian trademark doesn't require the rest of the page, or the page title, to use the phrase "battle of bands" instead of "battle of the bands." I changed the section about the trademark, which was promotional in nature, to a single sentence stating that it is trademarked in Canada. This phrase was in use before 1998, and the fact that someone trademarked it in Canada doesn't mean that people everywhere need to use a different term. Basically, if the event format was always called "battle of the bands", it doesn't become a "battle of bands" worldwide because someone trademarked a common phrase in one country.
I don't really care about battles of bands; I just thought that mentioning the trademark twice was promotional.Roches(talk)15:55, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
