TheSouth Wales Evening Postis atabloid daily newspaperdistributed in theSouth West region of Wales.The paper has three daily editions –Swansea;Neath and Port Talbot;andCarmarthenshire[2]– and is published byMedia Wales,part of theReach plcgroup.[2]The current editor is Jonathan Roberts.[3]As the name suggests, it had previously been anevening paper,but later became a morning daily.

History

Founded in 1893 as theSouth Wales Daily Post,the paper changed its name in 1932 to the current title.[4]Former journalists included poetDylan Thomas,who joined from school in 1930 but left 18 months later to become freelance.[5]

In August 2006, according to the ABC figures, theSouth Wales Evening Postovertook theCardiff-basedSouth Wales Echoas the biggest-selling evening newspaper inWales.[6]

Presently thePostis published six days a week by Media Wales, which also publishes theCarmarthen Journal,Neath Port Talbot Courier,andLlanelli Star.[2]TheEvening Postproduces a range of special features and supplements on entertainment, TV, motoring, property, employment and sport.[7]

In 2012,Local Worldacquired owner Northcliffe Media fromDaily Mail and General Trust.[8]

In 2013 the paper gained national attention during the2013 Swansea measles epidemicas it had previously led a campaign against the vaccine after misunderstandingAndrew Wakefield's research.[9]
