Thetinya(Quechua)[1]orkirki(Quechua)[1]is apercussion instrument,a small handmadedrumofleatherwhich is used in the traditional music of theAndeanregion, particularlyPeru.The drum dates to thepre-Columbianera,[2]and is used in traditionalPeruvian dances,notably inLos Danzantes de Levantowhere it is played by one person simultaneously with theantara,a type ofpanflute;that instrument combination is similar to the worldwide tradition of thepipe and tabor.
