From October 1951 to March 1954, the magazine was namedTrains and Travel.[2]Jim Wrinn, a former reporter and editor at theCharlotte Observer,served as editor from 2004 until his death in 2022.[3]Carl A. Swanson succeeded him.[4]

Trainswas long among the 11 magazines published byKalmbach Media,based inWaukesha, Wisconsin.In May 2024, Kalmbach Media soldTrains,along with other railroad and astronomy-related publications to Firecrown Media.[5]
