History
editIn 1952, Varner had three residents.[2]
In 1958, Varner, which had five residents, had a crossroads, gas station and a store.[3]
By 1975, parts of the area were within the boundary of theCummins Unit.[4]The center of the community is now entirely in ADC land.[5]

editThe Cummins/Varner Volunteer Fire Department provides fire services.[6]The station is alongArkansas Highway 388.[7]
Varner houses theArkansas Department of CorrectionVarner Unit.[8][9]TheCummins Unitis located nearby.[10]The main campus of the Riverside Vocational Technical School is located behind the Varner Unit.[11]
