Club career

Early career / Universitatea Craiova

Born inCorabia,Olt County,Screciu began his career with local CSȘ Corabia in 2010. The following year he joined the youth setup ofFC Universitatea Craiova,and in 2013 moved toCS Universitatea Craiova.[2][3]On 2 October 2016, 16-year-old Screciu was handed hisLiga Idebut by head coachGheorghe Mulțescu,entering in the 82nd minute of a 1–2 away loss toFC Steaua București.[4]

In April 2017, Portuguese newspaperO Jogoreported thatBenficashowed interest in signing the player.[5]He was an unusedsubstitutein the2018 Cupa României Finalon 27 May, as theAlb-albaștriiwon 2–0 overHermannstadt.[6]During his first spell at the club, Screciu amassed 44 appearances in all competitions.

Genk

On 19 June 2018,Genkannounced the signing of Screciu on a three-year contract with the option of another year.[7]The Belgian team paid a rumoured fee of2 million plus bonuses for the transfer.[8][9]

Return to Universitatea Craiova

Screciu dealt with injuries during his spell in Belgium,[10]and returned to Universitatea Craiova in 2021.

Screciu plays primarily as acentralor adefensive midfielder,but can also operate as acentral defender.[2]
