Under Volkswagen's revised platform naming system, the "A04" platform is known as thePQ24platform,[1]and what may have been called theA05platform is officially thePQ25platform. The new nomenclature is derived as follows:

  • Pindicates apassenger carplatform
  • Q(quer) indicates atransverse engine
  • 2indicates the platformsizeorclass
  • 5indicates thegeneration

TheVolkswagen A00 platformis derived from the A03 platform as well, being a shortened version of it.

A04 (PQ24)
