Yūki Tabata(Japanese:Điền điền dụ cơ,Hepburn:Tabata Yūki)is a Japanesemanga artist.After working as an assistant toToshiaki Iwashiro,he created theone-shotHungry Joker,which was later serialized as a full series. After its conclusion, he launchedBlack Clover.

Biography
editYūki Tabata was born inFukuoka Prefecture,Japan.[1]Before launching his own series, he worked as an assistant toToshiaki Iwashiro.[2]In 2011, Tabata entered theone-shotHungry Jokerin theGolden Future Cup ,which earned first place in the award.[1]This one-shot was later turned into a full series, which ran inWeekly Shōnen Jumpfrom 2012 to 2013.[3][4]
FollowingHungry Joker's completion, Tabata published another one-shot, titledBlack Clover,inShōnen Jump Next!!.[5]This one-shot was later turned into a full series, which started serialization inWeekly Shōnen Jumpon February 16, 2015.[6]Soon afterBlack Clover's debut as a full series, Tabata got married.[1]In the first half of 2017,Black Cloverwas the 28th best-selling manga in Japan.[7]One year later, the entireBlack Clovermedia franchise was the 24th best-selling media franchise in Japan.[8]The series has been given numerous adaptations, notably ananimetelevision series.[9]
Style
editTabata stated that when making stories, he wants to give each character a chance in the spotlight.[10]When it comes to the characters, he likes to give each a defining trait to make them memorable to the reader. As for their designs, he stated that he likes to have fun drawing, so if part of a character's design frustrates him, he changes it.[10]

editTabata has citedAkira Toriyama'sDragon Ballas a major influence over his work, even stating it was one of the main reasons he decided to become a manga artist.[11]Tabata has also citedKentaro Miura'sBerserk[12]andTite Kubo'sBleachas sources of inspiration.[13]
