TheLariat Family(also spelledLariate)was an influentialBretonfamily ofWayrest,active inThird Era.They were distant cousins of theSeptims,and were known for their high position within theEmpire.

Gallivere Lariatwas consort ofKatariahafter the death ofPelagius Septim III.With her, he was the father ofUriel Septim IV,also known as Uriel Lariat. At some point Uriel Lariat became King of Wayrest, and was adopted into Septim Dynasty by EmperorCassynder.Cassynder was succeeded by his adopted half-brother as an Emperor. Despite the adoption and distant relation between Lariats and Septims, Uriel's lack of a close connection to the Septim bloodline led to lingering sedition against his rule. Few of theElder Councilcould be persuaded to accept him fully as a blood descendant ofTiber Septim.
