The1934 South Carolina gubernatorial electionwas held on November 6, 1934, to select thegovernorof the state ofSouth Carolina.Olin D. Johnstonwon the contestedDemocraticprimary and ran unopposed in the general election becoming the98th governorof South Carolina.

TheSouth Carolina Democratic Partyheld theirprimaryfor governor in the summer of 1934 and it attracted manypoliticiansbecause of the change in 1926 to the South Carolina constitution providing for a four-year term. Johnston emerged victorious from therunoffagainst former GovernorCole Bleaseand ranwithout oppositionon account of South Carolina's effective status as aone-party state.
