TheAutovía A-40is anautovía(motorway) inCastile,Spain,serving as a gradual upgrade of theN-400.The road runs fromToledotoCuenca.[1]
After junction 73 ofAutovía A-42the road asN-400heads east along the south bank of the Rio Tajo. At Aranjuez it crosses the AutovíasA-4andR-4.It follows theA-4before branching east after Ocaña. At Tarancón the road crosses theAutovía A-3before heading east into the Sierra de Altomira and a bridge over the Canal de Trasvase Tajo Segura. The newAVEline fromMadridtoAlicanteandValenciais to the south of the road. The road isAutovíagrade as it passes through the Altos de Cabrejas and over the Puerto de Cabrejas (1,150m) before reaching Cuenca and the junctions with theN-320,N-420.
