GeneXusis alow code,cross-platform,knowledge representation-based development tool,[1][2]mainly oriented towards enterprise-class applications forweb applications,smart devices,and theMicrosoft Windowsplatform.

GeneXus uses mostlydeclarative languageto generate native code for multiple environments.[citation needed]It includes anormalizationmodule, which creates and maintains an optimal database structure based on user views. The languages for which code can be generated includeCOBOL,Java,Objective-C,RPG,Ruby,Visual Basic,andVisual FoxPro.[3]Some of the DBMSs supported areMicrosoft SQL Server,Oracle,IBM Db2,Informix,PostgreSQL,andMySQL.

GeneXus was developed byUruguayancompanyARTech Consultores SRLwhich later renamed to Genexus SA.[4]The latest version is GeneXus 18, which was released on November 10, 2022.[5]
