HipNavwas the firstcomputer-assisted surgerysystem developed to guide the surgeon during totalhip replacementsurgery.[1]It was developed atCarnegie Mellon University.[2]The patented technology was licensed out of Carnegie Mellon by the founders ofCASurgica, Inc.After several years of attempting to commercialize HipNav, the company ultimately folded. The founders of CASurgica later foundedBlue Belt Technologies, Inc.
