John H. Coverdaleis a New Zealand-born academicpsychiatrist,educator and editor.[1]He is currently a full professor ofpsychiatry,behavioral sciences,andmedical ethicsatBaylor College of Medicine.[2]

Academic career

After promotion to associate professor at theUniversity of Auckland,Coverdale moved toBaylor College of Medicinein 2000, rising to full professor.[2]He completed an MD from theUniversity of Otagoin 2004, with a thesis entitled'Family planning, sexually transmitted infections, and ethical challenges in managing decisions about contraception and pregnancy when patients have a major mental disorder.'[3]

He has expertise inhuman trafficking,[4]and he founded and co-directs the Baylor Anti-Human Trafficking Program.[5]He is an educator and a senior editor of the journalsAcademic Medicineand Academic Psychiatry.[1][6]
