Katie Jane Lotte Lamis a BritishConservativepolitician who has been Member of Parliament forWeald of Kentsince 2024.[1]She is also a lyricist and scriptwriter.
Biography and political career
[edit]Lam was educated atTrinity College, Cambridge,where she read classics. While at Cambridge she was elected president of theCambridge Unionand chairman of theCambridge University Conservative Association.[2]She began working in finance, spending the bulk of her career atGoldman Sachs,where she was a vice president. She then became aspecial adviser,working forSuella BravermanandBoris Johnson.[3]She has also worked for PR companyPortland Communicationsas Chief Policy Adviser, and Chief of Staff atAIcompany Faculty. Lam is agovernorat the Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children inKing's Cross,and a former trustee at the Ivors Academy Trust, the charitable arm of professional songwriters' associationThe Ivors Academy.[4]
Musical career
[edit]In collaboration with Alex Parker, Lam has co-written five musicals, including an adaptation ofThe Railway Children.[5]
