Katie Jane Lotte Lamis a BritishConservativepolitician who has been Member of Parliament forWeald of Kentsince 2024.[1]She is also a lyricist and scriptwriter.

Biography and political career

Lam was educated atTrinity College, Cambridge,where she read classics. While at Cambridge she was elected president of theCambridge Unionand chairman of theCambridge University Conservative Association.[2]She began working in finance, spending the bulk of her career atGoldman Sachs,where she was a vice president. She then became aspecial adviser,working forSuella BravermanandBoris Johnson.[3]She has also worked for PR companyPortland Communicationsas Chief Policy Adviser, and Chief of Staff atAIcompany Faculty. Lam is agovernorat the Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children inKing's Cross,and a former trustee at the Ivors Academy Trust, the charitable arm of professional songwriters' associationThe Ivors Academy.[4]

Musical career

In collaboration with Alex Parker, Lam has co-written five musicals, including an adaptation ofThe Railway Children.[5]
